This is Lionel 6-81237 Seaboard Legacy E8 AA (BTO). Many of the most famous passenger trains in the United States were pulled by the classic EMD E8 diesel locomotive. The E8 was produced from 1949 until the mid-1950s, when it was replaced by its successor, which was produced until the mid-1960s.
